We’re proudly supporting Gas Safety Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of gas appliances.
Badly fitted and poorly maintained appliances can be dangerous and pose a serious risk. We carry out gas safety checks every year in all of our rented homes to make sure our customers are safe and can have peace of mind.
Our engineers are highly trained and experienced and know what to look for, keeping our customers safe. We also appoint a third-party auditor to carry out sample checks to ensure that we’re providing a great service that’s up to standard.
We encourage our customers to get their appliances serviced regularly by a competent Gas Safe Registered Engineer to make sure their appliances are safe and don’t pose any risk to them, and to send us a copy of the record so we can be sure that their home is safe too.
Stephanie Lloyd-Foxe, Head of Building Safety & Compliance at Magna, said: “Gas safety week is an opportunity to raise awareness of gas safety and promote best practice. It’s a great opportunity to remind people of the importance of checking that they have a carbon monoxide detector and test it regularly.”
Carbon monoxide is colourless, odourless, and tasteless, making it impossible to detect without a detector. Carbon monoxide can pose a serious health risk for if there are high levels in your home, which is why it’s important to have a detector and test it regularly.
Boiler flues that pass through the loft should also be kept clear with nothing stored around them as this can lead to a build-up of carbon monoxide and can also create a fire risk.
Stephanie finished by saying: “Our building safety and compliance team work tirelessly to ensure that our customers are safe in their homes.”
Our website is also kept up to date with all the latest information to make sure that our customers have a reliable resource to stay informed on how to stay gas safe in their home.
