Continuing with National Careers Week, we’d like you to meet Gemma Shove, who joined Magna as a Sheltered Housing Advisor last December.
Our sheltered housing team help to support some of our vulnerable and older customers who live in our sheltered, supported, and extra care homes and are the friendly faces that they can rely on.
Gemma said:
“I’ve worked in health and social care for ten years and have also worked at a training academy that specialises in young adults with learning difficulties. I really enjoy working with others, and as I have experience working with and safeguarding vulnerable adults, I felt I could transfer these skills.
“I chose to work for Magna as they have a good reputation for looking after their colleagues and supporting their progression.”
Gemma is part of a team of 20 sheltered housing advisors that work hard to make sure our customers are happy in their homes and communities. She continued:
“My colleagues have been nothing but kind, professional and supportive. During my induction I was heavily supported by the team, and my line manager would call me to check in daily to see how I’m feeling.
“Each of my colleagues bring so much to the team, and I’ve learned so much from all of them already. They’re good people who care so much about our customers. It’s a true honour to work with them.”
As a Sheltered Housing Advisor, Gemma is responsible for delivering a comprehensive housing and wellbeing service, as well as the day-to-day running of various sheltered schemes. This includes carrying out home viewings, health and safety checks, and managing low-level anti-social behaviour.
Gemma finished by saying:
“Not only do I love my role here at Magna, but what makes it is the team I work with, my manager who is an incredible leader, and the customers.”
