Our mobility scooter policy has been developed in line with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) mobility scooter guidance to keep our customers and their homes safe.

Charging mobility scooters
We know how important being independent is. If you have limited mobility, a mobility scooter can help increase your independence.
However, there are fire risks associated with mobility scooters, which means it’s important to have suitable storage and charging facilities to make sure you and your neighbours are safe.
If you have a mobility scooter, you must make sure that you are charging and storing it safely. This short video shows why this is so important.
Mobility scooters must not be stored in a communal area, and you must have a dedicated plug to charge it. We have schemes available to help you store and charge your scooter. Get in touch for more information about this.
If you’re thinking of getting a scooter, it’s important that you speak to your housing officer or sheltered housing advisor first, so we can make sure there is somewhere for it to be stored and charged without blocking fire exits or causing a fire risk.
